About SalaryCalc India

When you get a job offer, HR quotes you a CTC (Cost to Company) number — but that's not what shows up in your bank account every month. Provident fund, gratuity, and taxes all take a share first. SalaryCalc India exists to close that gap: tell us your CTC, and we'll show you what you'll actually take home, and which tax regime saves you the most.

Why We Built This Calculator

Most people don't find out how much of their CTC they'll actually receive until their first payslip — by then, it's too late to negotiate. We built this calculator so you can see the real number upfront: what your monthly in-hand salary will be, and exactly which deductions account for the difference from your CTC.

What Makes This Calculator Different

It compares both tax regimes automatically. India currently has two tax regimes — Old and New — with different rates and different rules about what you can deduct. Most people don't know which one actually saves them more money. This calculator computes both side by side and tells you the answer, along with how much you'd save.

It catches exemptions people miss. HRA exemption (which depends on the city you live in), meal allowance, employer NPS contribution, and children's education or hostel allowance can all reduce your taxable income — but only under the Old Regime, and only if you actually claim them. This calculator applies the correct rule for each one automatically.

It shows every rupee, not just a final number. You get a full breakdown from CTC down to your net take-home — basic salary, HRA, provident fund, gratuity, professional tax, income tax — so you can see exactly where each rupee of your CTC goes.

It explains ESOPs and RSUs in plain language. If part of your compensation is company stock, the tax rules are genuinely confusing. This site includes a plain-English guide to how ESOPs and RSUs are taxed differently, and when.

Who This Calculator Is For

Anyone evaluating a new job offer and trying to understand what they'll actually take home, salaried employees deciding between the old and new tax regimes, and anyone who has looked at their payslip and wondered why the number is smaller than their CTC. No prior tax knowledge is assumed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this calculator free to use?

Yes, completely free, with no sign-up or login required.

Do you store or see my salary data?

No. Every calculation happens directly in your browser, on your own device. Your CTC, salary components, and results are never sent to or stored on any server.

Is this financial or tax advice?

No. This calculator is an educational tool to help you estimate your take-home salary and compare tax regimes. It is not financial, tax, or legal advice. Please speak with a qualified tax professional or your employer's HR/payroll team for your exact figures.

How accurate are the results?

As accurate as the standard assumptions and FY 2026-27 rules we use allow — but your employer's exact salary structure, and how they apply specific rules, can differ. Treat the numbers as a close estimate for planning, and confirm your exact figures against your payslip or HR/payroll team.

Does this work for freelance, business, or self-employed income?

No. This calculator is built specifically for salaried employees with a CTC (Cost to Company) structure. Freelance, business, and professional income are taxed under different rules that this tool doesn't model.

Does this site use ads or tracking?

This site may show ads and use analytics to understand traffic — see our Privacy Policy for the full details. Either way, the salary figures you enter into the calculator never leave your browser.

Is there a mobile app?

No, SalaryCalc India is a website, not an app. It works in any modern mobile or desktop browser — nothing to install.
