The Old Regime here counts only the standard deduction, your PF (80C) and professional tax. Add rent, insurance or other investments in the full calculator.

Assumes Basic at 50% of CTC, HRA at 50% of Basic and no variable pay — the usual structure since the Labour Codes. If part of an offer is a bonus, the fixed part alone has to reach this CTC.

How it works

We run the same engine as the in-hand salary calculator backwards: it tries CTCs in ₹1,000 steps and returns the lowest one whose monthly in-hand reaches your target. Every rule the main calculator applies — the ₹25,000 PF ceiling, the Labour Codes' 50% wage rule for gratuity and ESI, the ₹12 lakh rebate with marginal relief, surcharge and cess — applies here too.

To see exactly where each rupee of a CTC goes, read CTC to in-hand, worked rupee by rupee.

Frequently asked questions

What CTC do I need for ₹1 lakh a month in hand?

About ₹14,95,000 a year in the New Regime, with Basic at 50% of CTC, PF on the full Basic, gratuity inside CTC and ₹2,400 professional tax. Capping PF at ₹25,000 of Basic or keeping gratuity outside CTC brings it down.

What CTC do I need for ₹50,000 a month in hand?

About ₹7,04,000 a year on the same defaults. There's no income tax at that level in the New Regime — the gap is PF, gratuity and professional tax.

Why isn't the CTC just my in-hand × 12?

CTC includes your employer's PF and gratuity, which never reach your bank account each month, and your own PF, professional tax and income tax come out of the rest. On the default structure that's 15% of a ₹12 lakh CTC and 25% of a ₹25 lakh one.

Should I count my bonus?

No. Variable pay isn't paid monthly, so this calculator assumes none. If an offer includes a bonus, compare its fixed part with the CTC shown here.
