Salary Hike & Offer Comparison
A raise or a new offer is quoted in CTC, but you live on what reaches your bank account. Compare your current package with the new one and see the real in-hand hike — and where the rest of the raise goes.
How it works
Each package runs through the same engine as the in-hand salary calculator, with Basic at 50% of CTC and HRA at 50% of Basic. The difference in each part of the CTC — in-hand, net bonus, income tax, PF, ESI, gratuity, professional tax — adds up exactly to the raise, so nothing is hidden.
Bonuses are taxed at the top of your income; see how a bonus is taxed. For the CTC you'd need for a target take-home, use the reverse salary calculator.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my in-hand hike smaller than my CTC hike?
Because the extra pay is taxed at your highest slab, and PF and gratuity grow with it. A 25% hike from ₹12 lakh to ₹15 lakh raises monthly in-hand from ₹85,395 to ₹1,00,308 — 17.5% — in the New Regime, because 26% of the raise goes in income tax as taxable income crosses ₹12 lakh, where the New Regime's tax-free band ends.
How do I compare two job offers fairly?
Enter each offer with its own variable pay, state, PF basis and gratuity treatment. Compare the monthly in-hand on fixed pay first — the bonus isn't guaranteed — then look at PF and gratuity, which are your money too, just paid later.
Is the PF part of a raise lost money?
No. Your PF, and most of your employer's, goes into your EPF account and earns interest; a slice of the employer's share funds your EPS pension. Gratuity is paid when you leave after 5 years (1 year on a fixed-term contract). None of it reaches your bank account each month.
Does moving to another state change my take-home?
Slightly — professional tax depends on the state, from nothing in Delhi, Haryana or Odisha up to ₹2,500 a year in Maharashtra or Karnataka. Pick each package's state to include it.
